Celebrity Apprentice — in which Bret Michaels risked getting fired by Donald Trump because he brought in the least amount of money for his team — saw double-digit jumps in viewers and key demographics versus the show’s performance last week, according to preliminary ratings. Granted, the reality show didn’t have to do battle against a fresh episode of CBS’ promising new unscripted show Undercover Boss — instead, the Eye aired a sleeper Hallmark movie called When Love is Not Enough — but the ratings spike was likely due to fan concern over the musician’s grim prognosis. Last Thursday, Michaels suffered a massive subarachnoid hemorrhage and remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Compared to last week, Celebrity Apprentice was up 19 percent in adults 25-54 (from 3.1/07), 20 percent in adults 18-49 (from 2.5/07), and added 1.03 million viewers (from 6.82 million). ABC still won the night in viewers (8.5 million) and adults 18-49 (a 2.3 rating), while Fox and NBC tied for second place in the all-important adult demographic (a 2.2 rating). Final ratings for Sunday will be released Tuesday.
